I’m excited to share the first episode of my new podcast series, focused on the American Discovery Trail. It’s called “Sea to Shining Sea,” and the series will feature interviews with ADT vets and also people who can share insights into the cultural and historical features along the way.
This first episode, called “Trailblazers,” features interviews with a few people who have made a profound impact on the route. First, I speak with Eric Seaborg, a member of the original scouting team, the current president of the ADT executive team, and co-author of American Discoveries. Then, I interview Ken and Marcia Powers, aka Gottawalk, who were the first continuous through-hikers of the ADT. Their trail journal is a must-read for any aspiring ADT walker.
For now, this first episode is housed within the infrastructure of my first podcast, The Camino Podcast. In time, it will have it’s own home on Soundcloud and iTunes. It’s just going to be a little while–new episodes won’t begin to appear until late-October at the earliest?
Why’s that? I’m glad you asked. I’m heading out today to start my walk on the ADT, so I’m going to be a little busy for the next couple of months! Between now and late-October, the goal is to complete the southern route between Denver and Cincinnati. After that, I’ll be home and working hard to churn out a bunch of episodes. Get in touch if you’d like to be involved!
Many thanks to Eric, Ken, and Marcia for their participation with this episode, and even more thanks to Donna, Peter, and Sharon for the conversations they’ve already had with me for future episodes. I wish they were already done, but they are coming!
